ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION TO PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT: INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract

Acute Myocardial Infarction, known by the acronym AMI, can be described as the necrosis of cardiac
muscle tissue caused by a lack of oxygen and nutrients, due to an obstruction in the vessels that irrigate
it. AMI is a global health problem and predominates among the main causes of death in the world. The
presentwork aimsto emphasize basiccurrent conceptsin relationto the pathophysiology, diagnosis and
treatment of Acute Myocardial Infarction. This is a literature review, which consists of constructing a
broad analysis of the topic, contributing to discussions about research methods and results, as well as
reflections on carrying out future studies. In the VHL, ScIELO and PUBMED databases. Studies have
shown that AMI is the leading cause of death in the world, with a significant decrease in quality of life
among survivors. Its diagnosis, as well as treatments, must be as early as possible, it is important to
highlight that the time from the onset of symptoms (coronary artery occlusion) to the institution of
treatment (chemical or mechanical reperfusion) is directly proportional to the occurrence of events
clinically relevant, and can determine the success of coronary reperfusion and, subsequently, the
reduction in patient morbidity and mortality. Thus, it is emphasized that the benefits of treatment are
