This article presents the results and discussions derived from the activities carried out in the quilombola communities of Western Cariri, through extension actions linked to the Law program of the Faculty of Cariri – Unicir. The activities took place in the communities of Ligeiro de Baixo, Cantinho de São Sebastião, and Roça Velha, located in the municipalities of Serra Branca and Camalaú, focusing on the dialogue between legal and community knowledge through workshops and discussion circles on social and cultural rights. The analysis of the experiences highlighted the role of university extension as a bridge between academia and society, contributing both to the practical and critical education of students and to the strengthening of the identity and organization of quilombola communities. The actions revealed challenges related to access to public policies, the appreciation of Afro-descendant culture, and the exercise of citizenship, emphasizing the need for continued practices that integrate teaching, research, and extension.
