The nursing process qualifies the assistance by promoting the profession's autonomy. Supervised internships are essential for academic training, allowing students to experience relevant practices in care; however, the student may face several difficulties. Therefore, this work aims to report the challenges faced by nursing interns in a public maternity hospital in the interior of Paraíba. This study is descriptive, developed through the experience report of students and difficulties encountered during a technical visit to the Santa Filomena maternity hospital in the city of Monteiro-PB on May 30th. The visit took place with the presentation of the triage room, milk collection room, heel prick test, vaccination, and surgical block presentation. It is concluded that technical visits are essential for academic training; however, there are barriers that hinder not only academic practice but also professional practice, making it necessary to implement more public policies.
