Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition encompassing a Range
of manifestations that impact social interactions, communication, and cognitive processing in
varying ways and intensities. This study aims to analyze the role of nursing in patient-centered
care for individuals with ASD. The work presents an integrative literature review that consists
of constructing a broad analysis, contributing to discussions on research methods and results,
as well as reflections on the conduct of future studies. The studies, based on the Scielo, Lilacs,
and BVS databases, showed that the nurse's role as an advocate for the patient and educator of
the family and the multidisciplinary team is fundamental in the application of truly patient
centered care, and has a positive cascading effect. Humanized and adapted interventions
significantly reduce stress and disruptive patient behavior during procedures, improving
treatment adherence and, consequently, clinical outcomes. In conclusion, nursing demonstrates
a transformative potential in the care of individuals with ASD, but progress requires
overcoming barriers related to professional training and institutional structure.
